Another example of a very successful metadata aggregator and an OAI Service provider is CORE (COnnecting REpositories). Initially created to allow for easier access and text-mining of very large amounts of research publications, CORE eventually transformed into an international aggregator of Open Access scholarly content. What sets it apart from other services of its kind, however, is that aside from metadata records it also harvests the full-texts, thus promoting their further reuse. The system is operated by the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University in Milton Keynes (UK) and currently provides access to over 183 million records and nearly 25 million full-text papers, collected from more than 9.900 data providers. CORE offers a wide variety of attractive user features (in addition to standard search and browse options), including mobile platform compatibility, semantic recommendation of similar works, and statistical and analytical tools for institutions.
