During the summer period (Tuesday, 16 June till Monday, 31 August), the Main Library will open as follows:

Please note that:
- The study areas, desks and workstations are not available for use
- Anyone entering the premises should be wearing a mask or visor
- Users will be checked for body temperature prior to entering the premises

The Library will be open for the circulation of print publications and consultation of reference sources.
For the consultation of reference sources, reserve a 30-minute slot by sending an email to melitensia.lib@um.edu.mt or library@um.edu.mt.

What's new in OAR@UM
Newest additions to the Maltese Journals collection
We are happy to inform you that another Maltese periodical has been added in OAR@UM, further expanding the collection of local journals.
Mediterranean Human Rights Review is a refereed journal published on an annual basis by the Human Rights Platform of the University of Malta. The aim of the Mediterranean Human Rights Review is to delineate the nexus between the development of human rights and their evolving scenarios of application; sometimes exalting and sometimes compromising them in an overarching Mediterranean context in which the only certainty is represented by cultural diversity and by the ongoing interaction between ancient people and ethnicities.
Furthermore, the newest issue of Small States & Territories Journal was deposited.
Small States & Territories 3(1) features a number of research articles focusing on problems such as: globalisation, small states jurisdiction, language competition, women's political representation, gender stereotypes, personalism and democracy, and sustainable development. All subjects are discussed in the context of island states and subnational jurisdictions like Malta, Seychelles, Mauritius, Corsica and Sardinia, Prince Edward Island or Aruba.
Open Access fact of the month
When discussing metadata aggregators and online services that unite institutional repositories and digital archives, it is imperative to mention OpenAIRE, formerly a pan-European project, currently a legal entity aimed at supporting the implementation of Open Access and Open Science policies and facilitating innovation for scholarly communication across EU member states. On the one hand, OpenAIRE consists of a network of OA experts and liaisons (National Open Access Desks); on the other, it maintains a robust technical infrastructure that collects and interlinks metadata from various data providers, including repositories, journals, registries, and publishers. This interactive portal currently boasts over 40 million records with links to the primary materials, the majority of which are available in Open Access, as well as nearly a million interlinked datasets and fifty thousand research softwares. Aside from the standard searching and browsing options, offered are also advanced functionalities, such as personal account, linking of publications, repository register and validator, and a variety of statistical tools.
