The Sustainable Development Goals and Your Work at UM
As part of its work, the Committee for Sustainable Development at the University of Malta(C-SUM) would like to create a network of staff whose work at the University of Malta positively impacts the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This invitation therefore extends across all Faculties, Centres, Institutes and Schools, Directorates and Offices, and beyond - across the University of Malta's whole organigram.
As a first step, C-SUM is looking to establish a simple database of all UM staff (full- or part-time, council appointed or otherwise) whose work at the University of Malta or on its behalf is linked to SDG issues, be it through teaching, supervision, academic research and publication, outreach activities, engagement with society, media articles etc, technical support, management and administrative functions or even representation on committees.
For ease of reference the SDG goals are 1. No Poverty; 2. Zero Hunger; 3. Good Health and Well-being; 4. Quality Education; 5. Gender Equality; 6. Clean Water and Sanitation; 7. Affordable and Clean Energy; 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth; 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; 10. Reduced Inequality; 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities; 12. Responsible Consumption and Production; 13. Climate Action; 14. Life Below Water; 15. Life on Land; 16. Peace and Justice Strong Institutions; and 17. Partnerships to achieve the Goals.
C-SUM looks forward to having a better understanding of the UM's role in positively contributing towards these Goals.
