What's new in Melitensia
Melitensia's Book of the month – March 2023
= The history of water conservation on the Maltese islands, written by Steven Mallia and published by ‘Il-Ä ibjun.’
This publication is about the history of water conservation in Malta. In this book there are more than 500 pictures of reservoirs, cisterns and wells that were excavated by hand and most of which are forgotten. The author explained that these architectural marvels are impressive and were built by the residents of Malta which always had a scarcity of water.
This book makes the reader aware of the hardships faced by our ancestors to create subterranean storage facilities for man’s most critical basic necessity for survival, and raises awareness of our current rainwater conservation issues.
The list of new Melitensia acquisitions is available online.
