Daughter and father from UM contribute to an International Scientific Conference held in Romania

Ms Alessandra Bianco, a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Engineering under the academic supervision of Professor Philip Farrugia and co-supervision of Dr Maresca Attard Pizzuto, presented a paper with her father Professor Lino Bianco at the 20th edition of the .

The theme of their contribution, which was included in a parallel session addressing restoration and conservation of the built heritage, was on a non-destructive method to secure cables to masonry surfaces. In the same parallel session, Professor Bianco contributed another paper. He formed part of the international academic scientific committee of the conference and chaired its second plenary session.

Participants at the conference organised by Transylvania University of Brașov (Romania), Shenyang Jianzhu University (China) and the Technical University of Moldova (Moldova) hailed from numerous countries from all over the globe ranging from China to the United States including the Russian Federation, and a number of European Union Member States.

Professor Bianco is a full-time resident academic at the Department of History of Architecture, Faculty for the Built Environment and a member on the Board of the Mediterranean Institute. He is the Ambassador Emeritus of Malta to Romania and to the Republic of Moldova. He was the chairperson of the international jury for the architectural design competition regarding the rehabilitation of the 'Serghei Lunchevici' National Philharmonic Building in Chisinau.
