⚓ Balancing Sea and Study: Fisherman Chris’ Inspiring Graduation Journey

Meet Christian Axiak, a 21-year-old fisherman from Gozo who is charting new waters, not only at sea but also in his academic journey.

This November, Christian will be among 1,718 students graduating from the University of Malta, proudly earning a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Physical Education.

He is also the first in his family to graduate, making this milestone even more meaningful.

While Christian has always loved life at sea, he has equally embraced the world of learning. Balancing both has not been easy. Fishing demands early mornings, long hours, and physical endurance, while studying required focus and discipline. Yet, through determination and strong time-management skills, Christian managed to stay the course.

“You just have to set your mind to something, never give up, and always be open to learning new things; you can do anything with that mindset,” he shares.

Proud of his Gozitan roots and deeply grateful for his family’s unwavering support, Christian dedicates this achievement to them. “They’ve always been my anchor,” he says with a smile.

Now, with his undergraduate degree complete, Christian is already looking ahead. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Teaching and Learning (Physical Education), continuing to build on his passion for sport, education, and personal growth.

Christian’s journey is a shining example of resilience, balance, and belief: proof that with dedication and heart, it’s possible to navigate even the roughest seas and still reach your goals.
