The , the official student organisation of the Faculty of Theology, University of Malta, proudly marks its 80th anniversary this academic year. Founded on 6 November 1945 (originally as the “Royal University Students’ Theological Association”), the association has long served as a platform for theology students to engage academically, spiritually, and socially.
Over eight decades, GħST has fulfilled a dual mission: representing theology students in academic and institutional matters and fostering their intellectual and spiritual growth. Its legacy includes the pioneering peer-reviewed journal Melita Theologica, first issued in 1947, and ongoing initiatives to support theological scholarship, student formation, and community engagement.
Reflecting on this milestone, the President of GħST stated: “We are proud to honour the generations of students who have shaped the Faculty of Theology. Our focus remains on supporting student growth, promoting theological dialogue, and contributing meaningfully to academic and faith-based life in Malta.”
Students and alumni of the Faculty of Theology are encouraged to celebrate the legacy of GħST and its 80 years of contribution to Maltese theological education through the various events that will be held during the year. Further information will be posted on our socials.
