This lecture explains how to eat and drink before and during endurance events such as Ironman and 24-Hour Ultramarathons. It discusses energy, hydration, and nutrition needs for race day. The lecture is based on both scientific evidence and personal racing experiences. The goal is to help athletes maintain strength, recover well, and stay safe.

Speaker

Dr Aureliusz Kosendiak is a research and teaching fellow currently employed at the University of Lower Silesia in Wroclaw. He is the author of over 200 scientific publications on health, nutrition, and lifestyle, and the editor and originator of three scientific monographs. He is a frequent participant in international conferences on health, lifestyle, and physical activity. He has reviewed numerous articles in international journals and has participated in Ironman triathlon competitions, including the Norseman, and the 24-hour run. He is interested in training methods, motivation, and overcoming barriers in physical education. For many years, he has also been involved in community service in prisons, promoting physical activity and healthy behaviours among inmates.
