The Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo is a worldwide event organised by the Accademia della Crusca and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a publication on a new topic and events in all the Istituti Italiani di Cultura (IIC). He is convening an event at the IIC in Valletta on Tuesday 14 October where the main speaker is Professor Annalisa Nesi, member and secretary of the Accademia della Crusca's General Council, who will describe the aims and contents of this year's publication.
After a short speech by Prof. Brincat, Prof. Sandro Caruana will speak about "Metodologie vecchie e nuove: adattare la glottodidattica ai tempi" and Prof. Mario Pace will describe "L'insegnamento dell'italiano nelle scuole pubbliche e private a Malta oggi". The event will start with a welcoming coffee at 18:00 during which one can browse a collection of rare schoolbooks produced in Malta over a hundred years, from the Umberto I to the Lyceum, as well as school magazines in Italian.
