The Faculty of ICT will host 'AI Futures: What Kind of Future Are We Building?' on Friday,19 June 2026, at the Faculty of ICT Auditorium, University of Malta.
The event will feature a screening of , followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A exploring the opportunities, challenges and societal implications of artificial intelligence.
The documentary examines some of the most pressing questions surrounding the rapid development of AI technologies. Through interviews with leading figures in the field, it explores themes such as innovation, governance, safety, misinformation, technological responsibility and the future relationship between humans and intelligent systems.
Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with a panel of experts and participate in an open discussion on the issues raised by the documentary. The panel discussion will provide a space for critical reflection and will explore a range of perspectives on the future of AI, including its impact on education, work, creativity, public policy, ethics and society more broadly.
The Faculty of ICT invites students, staff, researchers, industry professionals and members of the public to attend and participate in this event. Rather than promoting a particular viewpoint, the evening aims to encourage informed dialogue and thoughtful debate about the role of AI in shaping our collective future. As artificial intelligence continues to influence many aspects of everyday life, it is increasingly important to engage with both the opportunities it creates and the challenges it presents.
No prior technical knowledge is required, and all those with an interest in the future of AI are welcome to attend. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required, and available .
