We are pleased to welcome Prof. Boris Popivanov, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Sofia University, St. Kliment Ohridski.

Prof. Popivanov’s research focuses on the theory and history of political ideologies, youth political socialisation, and the political determinants of migratory attitudes. He teaches courses on political ideologies and social groups in Bulgarian politics.

He has participated in several major international research projects funded under Horizon 2020 of the European Commission, including SAHWA, PARTISPACE, and GEMM. He has also led and contributed to cross-country surveys on youth attitudes in Southeast Europe funded by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

His extensive publications span youth studies, migration studies, political participation, and European migration industries, with recent edited and co-authored works addressing youth insecurity, recruitment practices, and social integration strategies in Europe.

This event will explore how political parties, media actors, and public opinion shape and contest the migration debate across Europe. The session will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
