Abstract: This workshop will start with a brief overview of sustainable consumption initiatives undertaken by members of the University of Malta's Centre for Environmental Education and Research (GEER). It will then focus on sustainable consumption as being "fair, clean , healthy and accessible" and highlight the role of Education for Sustainable Development in motivating communities for sustainable consumption behaviour. Work that is being carried out in schools through the EkoSkola and YRE (Young Reporters for the Environment) Programmes and the newly-launched 3-year EC project 'Eat Responsibly' will also be presented. Pedagogical Approaches and Methodologies applied in educational initiatives on Sustainable Consumption will then be explored in three break-out sessions, specifically: (a) Sharing experiences and best practices; (b) Implications of pedagogical approaches on main stream teaching and learning; (c) Identifying potential challenges in adopting methodologies for sustainable consumption and exploring solutions.
