Abstract: The researcher set out to conduct a questionnaire to social workers currently working in the field so as to determine their work-life balance. The researcher set out to identify whether family friendly measures are being regarded as an effective tool for work-life balance in the social work profession. This was done by identifying the awareness that social workers have regarding such measures. The current working conditions and personal evaluations were questioned so as to obtain an insight and personal experience regarding their work-life balance. It was noticed that whereas a substantial amount of respondents stated that they are content with their work-life balance during the beginning of the interview, most declared that they would have a better fit in life if their working hours were reduced. In particular, flexi-hours, teleworking and child care centers were mentioned by participants as measures that would be very beneficial to balance their work-life balance. Also, the importance of gender equality was highlighted in the study. It is believed that such measures can further promote employment to persons who care for siblings/ relatives/ persons with a disability and thus improve their skills and balance their work and life.
