Abstract

Abstract : Why do you do it? this question from a letter among the many received by Teatru Tal-Bniedem in response to their performance of It-Tliet Manikomji ta' Van Gogh (Maltese for The three Asylums of Van Gogh). spurred the group's director, John Schranz, into a dialogue with the letter's author.... and with his own thoughts, in the process of which the relevance of the Theatrical Act to all those involved in it is investigated, its layers being peeled off gently but surely, to come to awarenesses which are attuned to the dynamic time we are living in- times of dialogue, times of collabpsing barriers, times of vanishig frontiers, as a suffering Humanity excitedly senses the glimmer of possibility of a leap beyond. Isabelle Gatt (Buttigieg) was one of the Teatru tal-Bniedem actors for 15 years and the book includes excerpts from her journals during the process of the creation of The three Asylums of Van Gogh , her solo performances script which formed part of the groundwork for final collective creation and also the final collectively created script for The three Asylums of Van Gogh.
