GreenToC community gathers at the University of Malta for intensive green skills and AI training

From 13 to 15 May 2026, the partners from Cyprus, France, Greece, Malta, Portugal, and Romania convened at the University of Malta's Valletta Campus for an intensive Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA).

The GreenToC Project is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership initiative designed to bridge the gap between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the labour market, driving Europe's green and digital transformation. Implemented by a multidisciplinary consortium, the project equips university students, academics, and employers with essential sustainability and digital capabilities.

To achieve this, GreenToC integrates the Theory of Change (ToC) strategic planning framework with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, embedding these advanced methodologies into university curricula and digital learning platforms to foster evidence-based, real-world climate solutions and upskill future professionals for the green economy.

Over three transformative days, educators and students explored the Theory of Change framework as a powerful tool for driving lasting impact in green education. The event featured hands-on green skills training and cross-border teaching innovation tailored for the AI era.

The LTTA was hosted by University of Malta academics Dr Ing. Lawrence Farrugia Caruana (local co-ordinator), Dr Diane Vassallo, and Ms Heather McNamara, whose expertise and dedication ensured a rich and well-organised experience for all participants. Understanding how and why change happens is at the core of the GreenToC approach.

By collaborating on the Theory of Change framework, participants are left equipped with both practical skills and a clear roadmap for embedding sustainability meaningfully into their institutions and local communities.

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
