The University of Malta - Gozo Campus is organising a series of public lectures in ‘Health and Society’. The lectures will be delivered by Professor Maurice Cauchi and will be held during the month of July 2018.
Professor Maurice Cauchi graduated MD (Malta) and pursued further education at the University of London. He was Professor of Pathology at the University of Malta and has held senior positions in universities in Melbourne.
With increasing wealth and better conditions of living, new challenges have emerged. Non-infectious disease has become the major issue and this has frequently been associated with increased standards of living and the affluent society.
The aim of this series of lectures is to highlight the importance of issues that impact on the individual and on the broader society.
The following issues will be tackled:
- The affluent society and its disorders
- Social factors affecting health
- Genetic issues and social implications
- The digital age: health and social effects
- Prevention of disease: personal and social responsibilities
- Medical practice and society.
Lectures will be held on four Saturday mornings during July between 09:00 and 11:00, at the University Gozo Campus, Xewkija, Gozo.
A certificate of attendance will be awarded to participants.
Bookings are to be made by email or by phone.
