The Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development is proud to host Bhargab Maitra, Professor of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure Design and Management, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India to give a public lecture entitled 'Travel Behaviour Analysis and Its Applications for Improvement of Transportation Systems'.
The lecture will be held on Monday 22 October between 17:30 and 18:30.
Dr Bhargab Maitra is currently a Professor of Civil Engineering, and Head of RCG School of Infrastructure Design and Management, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His research interest includes travel behaviour analysis, public transportation system, sustainable transportation, traffic management and control, road safety and transport policy. He has published nearly 150 technical papers and case studies in various journals and proceedings of conferences, seminars and workshops. He has carried out several sponsored research and consultancy projects in the area of traffic and transportation system. He has been instrumental in leading the large interdisciplinary megaproject 'Future of Cities' involving more than 40 researchers across several departments and institutes in India and abroad. He is an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and DAAD Fellow. He also received Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award from the Indian Roads Congress. He is Topic Area Manager (TAM) for Topic Area D (Activity and Transport Demand) and Chairman of Special Interest Group D3 (Applications of Travel Behaviour Analysis and Demand Modelling Approaches) of WCTRS.
