Although most mainstream films are genre hybrids, it is very important for screenwriters to understand genre conventions and how they impact different elements of a cinematic story, namely: iconography, story structure, character development, world, conflict, theme, and resolution.
This short online course introduces screenwriters to these conventions and how they impact the creation and the execution of a story. The course also takes into account the historical development of film genres and how these genres are received and appreciated by the audience.
