The Department of Youth and Community Studies invites you to a public lecture by Prof. Sanna Aaltonen on the following topic: Do we need public sociology of youth?
The notion of public sociology advocated by Michael Burawoy, is outlined as a starting point to the discussion about what public sociology could mean in the context of the sociology of youth. Empirical research and examples are drawn upon to explore the promises and pitfalls of public sociology as an ethos when studying youth, young people and youth work practice.
The lecture will be held on Tuesday 10 January 2023 at 18.30 at the Msida campus. The venue is the Campus Hub CHBO-213.
