The Department of French goes to Paris.

In recent years, the Department of French, Faculty of Arts, has co-organised with François Soulages, professor emeritus of Université de Paris8 Vincennes Saint-Denis, France, International conferences at Malta University. Proceedings of these conferences have been edited in four volumes so far by L’Harmattan publishers, Paris. They are the following : Art & extériorité (2017), Interprétation & extériorité (2019), Photographie & extériorité (2022) and Existence & littérature (2023).

Next Wednesday 23 January 2024, at the Maison de la vie associative of the 10th arrondissement of the French capital, François Soulages shall be celebrating these publications along with academics who had come to Malta to take part in the conferences. This prestigious activity will be inaugurated by His Excellency Pierre Clive Agius, Ambassador for Malta in Paris. Amongst the members of our Department of French who are taking part are Dr Marilyn Mallia, Dr Patricia Micallef and Professor Richard Spiteri (online). Amongst the guests there will be also members of the Cercle Vassalli, that is French citizens who are of Maltese descent.
