Faculty of Science Seminar Series 2023-2024
Abstract
It is not unheard of that even in healthcare systems there is abuse which goes undetected. In a world dominated by digital transactions which go beyond the financial sector, research is motivated by the increased interest in detecting possible frauds in the abovementioned healthcare sector. For this scope new approaches are being developed and we propose some unsupervised statistical tools (Lorenz curve, concentration function, sum of ranks, Gini and Pietra indices) to provide efficient and easy-to-use methods aimed to signal possible anomalous behaviours. A more sophisticated method, based on Bayesian co-clustering will be also presented and discussed.
The Speaker
Fabrizio Ruggeri is a mathematician and statistician focussing on Bayesian Statistics and Decision Analysis. He is a Senior Fellow at the Istituto di Matematica Applicata e Tecnologie Informatiche (IMATI) in Milano of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Italy. He held several appointments around the world and is the President-Elect of the International Statistical Institute for the 2023-2025 term.
