The M.A. in Film Studies at the University of Malta is proud to announce Against All Odds: From Script to Screen, a public talk which is going to be delivered on 22 March 2024 by Justin Farrugia and Steven Dalli, who co-founded the Maltese independent production house Sharp Shoot Media in 2013.

The talk will be held in Gateway Building – Hall D2, Msida Campus, at 18:00, and will be open to the general public.

With tight budgets and a tight schedule, one can still manage to produce anything, but how? With twenty years of experience in the local media industry, Justin Farrugia and Steven Dalli will be going through each and every phase of their career, relating how problems can be turned into efficient and visually stunning solutions. No one believed that, despite the limited budgets at its disposal, Sharp Shoot Media would be able to come up with not one, but five period dramas, all of which proved to be game-changing productions in the local industry while also catching the attention of larger players in the international fora.

The Faculty of Arts’ M.A. in Film Studies is a part-time evening course sponsored by the Malta Film Commission. The programme combines theory with a practical component which gives the students the opportunity to collectively plan and shoot short films, developing them from the scriptwriting to the postproduction stages.
