Abstract
In recent years there has been a growing interest among psychologists in the topic of happiness. Many questions raised by contemporary psychologists have previously been raised by philosophers, and it is instructive to compare their answers. Both disciplines address such questions as: Is happiness subjective or objective? Does it lie entirely within us, or does it depend on external circumstances? Can it be based on illusion or immorality? But unlike philosophers, psychologists support their answers with empirical data and consider them scientific. In this lecture we will look at psychological and philosophical views on such topics and try to decide whether philosophy can make any contribution to psychological discussions.
