A group of nine students participated in an Erasmus+ exchange programme “Habits for Success” in Waregem, Belgium, under the leadership of lecturers Mr Musawar Ahmad and Ms Annick Bonello between 20-24 April 2026. Students from Sint Paulus College reciprocated the hosting opportunity offered by the Maltese students earlier this year in February. Participants also had the opportunity to mingle with students from Estonia and Finland during their stay.
The week was packed with different activities, exposing students to mental and physical wellbeing approaches and included sessions on breathing yoga, Qi Giong yoga, singing, a mental walk and a project discussion compiled by students on the topics of loneliness, bullying and time management. The four participating countries also set up a display with typical food items from their own nationality, where the Maltese table came about a great success. The overall experience including workshops focusing on different themes, and other non-formal learning activities, gave the participants good exposure to mental wellbeing practices, intercultural understanding and significantly impacted their communication and global cross-cultural exposure.
Other highlights from this trip were guided activities in the cities of Ghent and Brussels which included a visit to the Parlamentarium: Europe’s largest parliamentary visitors’ centre.
Such projects offer students life-learning opportunities and skills which go beyond the classroom, whilst meeting students from other countries and learning about different cultures and aspects of history.
