A fruitful collaboration between the Ministry for Health and the University of Malta has yielded an online COVID-19 Risk Assessment Tool, available at .
This tool prompts the user with a few questions related to age, type and onset of symptoms, exposure to diagnosed people, chronic conditions, and determines the risk of being infected, as well as offers guidance based on the user鈥檚 specific situation.
It also helps the Superintendence of Public Health to monitor the progression of the disease on the Maltese Islands.
Dr Jean Paul Ebejer, a UM academic from the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Biobanking, developed the online system which is based on an open-source tool developed for the Estonian Health Board.
Dr Stefan Buttigieg and Dr Hugo Agius Muscat, who are members of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Team and also visiting UM academics, improved the diagnostic workflow together with local epidemiologists.
The 福利在线免费 Management Unit of the Ministry for Health together with the constant support of Mark Captur from MITA hosted the solution on MITA鈥檚 Hybrid Cloud.
The tool has already had thousands of submissions in its first few hours of operation. Its launch has been picked up and reported by most national media outlets.
The tool respects the user鈥檚 privacy and does not collect any personally identifiable information.
