, a lecturer with the , has been appointed to the Executive Team for the Vision & Imaging Technical Network, of the (IET).

The IET is one of the world’s largest engineering institutions representing professionals in engineering and technology, with over 168,000 members in 150 countries. The Institution strives to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community, supporting technology innovation to meet the needs of society.

The IET Vision & Imaging Technical Network focuses specifically on bringing together engineers working in the fields of computer vision and image processing, covering aspects related to the generation, processing, communication, understanding and presentation of visual information. The IET is locally represented by the Malta Group of Professional Engineering Institutions (MGPEI), where Dr Cristina also holds the position of Hon. Secretary.

Dr Cristina is an active contributor to the fields of computer vision and image processing. Her research work, together with colleagues and students, is particularly concerned with vision-based tracking of human body movements, such as the eye-gaze and the head pose, for applications related to human-computer interaction, assistive technology, and multi-user collaboration among others.
