Ms Joanna Cassar is a final-year B.Sc. Nursing student who is presently in Jonkoping on ERASMUS mobility. Below is her first-hand experience in a few words.
Going on Erasmus and spending some time living in a Scandinavian country has been a dream of mine for many years. Finally, I can say I did both!
Being one of the lucky ones who actually managed to attend Erasmus this year, I was even more lucky to have chosen Jonkoping University in Sweden, as Swedish lifestyle was not very affected by the pandemic and thus I had the chance to have at least something close to the famous “Erasmus experience”.
We had the opportunity to build new friendships and make the most of living in a new country, visiting as many places as possible, especially the amazing countryside and lakes Sweden has to offer!
We were also given the chance to compare the education and healthcare system of Sweden to those in our country. By doing this, it helped us to improve on our knowledge by asking questions and look at the pros and cons of different systems. Although some of the lectures were online, it was still nice to experience a new education system, one which I personally found more student friendly.
I will be forever grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who made it possible, even though the current situation proved as a big challenge. This experience provided me with another level of independence and a lot of appreciation.
