Prof. Marvin Formosa, Associate Professor at the Department of Gerontology and Dementia Studies within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing and Rector's Delegate for the University of Third Age (U3A), has recently been awarded the degree of Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) in Gerontology. He was awarded by the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, for his “outstanding educational activity and personal contribution to the development of social policy and gerontology”. The conferment ceremony and celebration will take place in St Petersburg in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby Prof. Formosa will give a presentation entitled ‘The Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing: Successes, disappointments and future possibilities’.
