Dr von Brockdorff, Head of Department of Economics within the Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy, has been appointed as one of the Governors on the new MFSA Board of Governors.
The Board of Governors at MFSA is responsible for establishing the policies and risk parameters to be pursued by the Authority. Members are appointed by the Prime Minister for a term of five years.
As per the MFSA’s , titled ‘Strengthening the MFSA and Preparing for the next generation of financial services’, Malta’s financial regulator will, throughout this period, be consolidating Malta’s position as one of Europe’s most innovative financial services jurisdictions by safeguarding consumers’ interests whilst enhancing consumer trust, harmonising its regulatory and risk-based supervisory approach, embracing the digital transformation affecting the financial services sector and investing in the Authority’s IT infrastructure and systems.
Dr Von Brockdorff is an applied economist with a focus on applying economic theory and techniques to policy analysis. He has been involved in the economic review of several Government policies, and as a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) served as a rapporteur for a number of important dossiers at EU level.
