Although positive steps have been made, women are still widely underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering and Mathematics, and Malta is no exception.
On International Day of Women & Girls in Science, celebrated worldwide on 11 February, we remember the Malta Caf茅 Scientifique event which brought together prominent people from these fields, to discuss past, current and future issues of attracting women to studying STEM subjects.
Having more women in higher career positions will encourage more women to enter that field.
More flexible working schemes to work around family commitments, for example, is a way to allow this to happen.
