Ms Paraskovia Podorvana, who is currently a student at Junior College, has won the Judges’ Prize of the Sovereign Art Foundation Global Students Prize, after having competed with young artists all across the world.
The Sovereign Art Foundation Global Students Prize, a competition that enables cultural exchange between nations, consists of a series of prizes that are given to young artists hailing from around the globe, with this year’s winners being located in Malta, London, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Guernsey, Portugal and Singapore.
Ms Podorvana won with her original work titled ‘The Little Joys’ (pictured above), and will be receiving £800 for herself, and £2000 for her school.
Other than Art, Ms Podorvana also studies Italian, French, Psychology and Biology at the G.F. Abela Junior College.
She told Newspoint she was approached to participate in this competition in December 2019, when she was asked to do a themed project on the topic of ‘Joy’.
She got the news that she had won the competition whilst attending an online Biology class.
Asked on what advice she would give to other budding artists who are perhaps a bit more reserved about sharing their work, Ms Podorvana said “the best way to succeed and be happy is to believe in your skills and act in the way YOU think is right”.
