Welcome to Newspoint Rewind. 

Over the next few weeks, the Newspoint team will feature a series of videos that have been uploaded and recently-archived on the University of Malta YouTube channel.

In this first instalment, we rewind to a 2014 documentary about the UM, originally featured as part of Discover University initiatives in the same year.

Discover University is a yearly activity undertaken at UM whereby a number of visits are organised for secondary and post-secondary school students as well as the general public to get a glimpse of university life. The below documentary was shown to the visitors in 2014 … who must be either graduated or about to at present.

And while Malta’s history or the University’s history hasn’t changed much since then, only evolved with time, there is one phrase from the video that still rings true to this day, especially in the current pandemic scenario:

“Malta is a story of determination and survival against all odds”.

And that we are. As a university, we are, against all the challenges thrown at us by the onset of this pandemic, surviving and still thriving.
