The team behind the weekly programme Destination Francophonie, shown on the French television network TV5Monde, has visited the campus of the University of Malta on Thursday 20 May, in order to document the teaching of French at tertiary level.
Dr Marilyn Mallia, Senior Lecturer in the Department of French at the Faculty of Arts, welcomed them at the Petite Auberge de France, the French resource and activity centre, and showed them around the campus, where they could also observe lectures in French.
Ivan Kabacoff, the programme presenter, interviewed students from the Bachelor of Arts programme and from the Masters in Teaching and Learning about their experience of learning French and their motivations. He also filmed extracts of a lecture on phonetics with Dr Anne Marie Bezzina Busuttil and a lecture by Dr Marilyn Mallia on French women鈥檚 literature.
The programme will be shown later this year, in a special double feature on Malta鈥檚 historical links to France and the teaching of French in Malta.
