A third-year student reading for a B.Sc. (Hons) in Earth Systems, has become the latest awardee of the Academic Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in his undergraduate studies.
Mr Luca Laudi obtained consistently high results, including a minimum of 80 ECTS at grade A or better, and a further 20 ECTS at grade B or better, during the first two years of the course.
In a ceremony held on 21 July 2021, the Institute’s Director, Prof. Louis F. Cassar, presented the award certificate and vouchers to Mr Laudi. Prof. Cassar congratulated Mr Laudi and commended his excellent performance.
Mr Laudi recently submitted his undergraduate dissertation titled ‘Maltese honey as a bioindicator of atmospheric heavy metal pollution in Malta’. He is expected to graduate later this year.

The B.Sc. (Hons) in Earth Systems is an interdisciplinary 3-year degree programme which considers the various key components of the Earth’s systems and their interactions in order to develop an integrated and holistic approach to the management and planning of activities at the human-nature interface.
