The Master of Arts in Film Studies course combines the theoretical aspects in Film Studies with a practical component during which the students collectively plan and shoot short films, developing them from the scriptwriting to the postproduction stages. In order to help the students reach their full potential and to keep the tight schedule such projects demand, internationally acclaimed directors active in the European film industry are invited to act as mentors.
After the completion and screening of last year鈥檚 short films, which had been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic, this year鈥檚 groups set to work. This cohort is being mentored by two fresh faces within the M.A. in Film Studies, Hana Jusic and Martijn Smits. They are currently overseeing the production and shooting of the two short films, Lixka and Missing.
Two screenings of the final products will be held on 8 August, at 18:00 and 20:00.
All current social distancing measures put in place by the health authorities will be adhered to.
The MA in Film Studies course is sponsored by the Malta Film Commission.
