A cohort of more that a hundred nursing students have completed their training and enter the workplace in the coming days. The Department of Nursing wanted to proudly draw attention to the impressive commitment and determination of these nursing students who courageously rose to the challenges and risks associated with the prevailing pandemic.
They pursued practice placements across the nation's health and social care services throughout the final two years of the programme of studies, despite the pandemic. For several this meant distancing themselves from vulnerable and high-risk relatives and friends. They completed all the theoretical learning and assessments online, following a sudden halt of in-class teaching and abrupt needed shift to online delivery of all course content.
Moreover, they contributed generously to the roll-out of the vaccination services across Malta and Gozo, alongside their studies. University of Malta Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, commended the students and recognised their efforts and achievements noting that the UM's pride in being a main stakeholder in the development of the nation鈥檚 health care workforce was been conspicuously underlined by these students.
