Representatives from the universities of Cadiz (Spain), Brest (France), Gdansk (Poland), Split (Croatia) and Malta - all members of the SEA-EU Alliance, the 'European Universities of the Seas', met in Malta to start discussing the details of an eventual joint Master's degree. The meeting was held over two days at the University of Malta's Valletta Campus.
The partners discussed the philosophy and inspiration of an eventual masters programme in the sustainable management of organisations.
The meeting benefitted from the expertise of UM's Project Support Office, the Office of the Registrar, and academics with experience in running joint degrees.
The event was also addressed by Mr Marvin Zammit, Chair of Malta's Sustainable Development Network. Mr Zammit spoke of the value of educational initiatives in favour of sustainability, especially those targeting professionals in the various levels of management of enterprises and other organisations. He also urged a thorough and deep mainstreaming of sustainability
across all aspects of the proposed master's degree curriculum.
