The Faculty of Dental Surgery is offering a novel course, this is one of the first MSc courses in Digital Dentistry offered in Europe. During this two year programme of studies, students from diverse disciplines in Dentistry will be applying theoretical and practical skills in the main areas of Digital Dentistry in the dental laboratory and clinical training. Students will also be expected to engage in an MSc research project and its respective thesis is to be finalised by each student upon completion of the course.
“Our team has been conducting research and producing high impact articles in the field of Digital Dentistry totalling more than 600 citations. Currently, two PhD projects are also being conducted in our CAD-CAM & DIGITAL DENTISTRY (CCDD) Laboratory created by the Faculty of Dental Surgery.” said Professor Arthur Cortes at the Faculty. These projects involve comparisons of trueness, precision, time and cost of digitally designed dental prostheses fabricated with a 5-axis milling device, a furnace of speed-synthering and two low-cost resin 3D-printers. Among the CAD-CAM systems partnering in research with our team are Zirkonzahn, Exocad and 3Shape.
