The Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories which University of Malta is part of, published a statement in light of recent events affecting the independence, sovereignty and safety of the Ukrainian nation and its citizens, and the peace and stability of Europe and the rest of the World.
"Our position is not ideological, but one that is coherent with higher education institutions' function and role as repositories of cultural heritage, of educating global citizens with a commitment to understanding and to peaceful coexistence, and as promoters of international cooperation and dialogue. The international and national communities would be ill-served if our voices were not to be heard in situations such as this very dramatic one." said a representative from NUSCT.
The Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories, , publicly condemns the invasion of the Ukrainian territory and the breach of its sovereignty by the Russian armed forces, and supports the global demands for an immediate halt to the armed aggression, for the respect of international law, and for the diplomatic and peaceful resolution of all conflicts.
Likewise, NUSCT and the University of Malta encourages citizens and organisations of the world to incessantly dedicate their energy to the global preservation of peace, tolerance, mutual respect and understanding.
