Between 22 and 24 May 2022 a training activity as part of the ICARUS Erasmus+ project was organised at the Valletta Campus. Attendees included academics and researchers from KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, the University of Minho, Portugal and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania.
University of Malta Academics Dr Ing Emmanuel Francalanza, Prof Ing Jonathan Borg, Dr Ing Joseph Zammit and Dr Ing Pierre Vella contributed towards the training sessions over the three days. The focus of the training was the use of the Digital Training Toolbox and the Industry 4.0 Mobile Training Unit developed during the project.
Applied training sessions demonstrating how this content can be utilised for adopting innovative teaching methods were held. This allowed all the participants to contribute to this learning experience, and augment their knowledge on both the use of non-traditional pedagogic approaches as well as Industry 4.0 technologies, such as collaborative robotics and artificial intelligence.
The ICARUS project is coordinated by the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Malta, and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, Project No. 2019-1-MT01-KA203-051265.
