From 11 July 2022 to 13 July 2022 Dr Ing. Owen Casha, Dr Ing. Russell Farrugia and Ing. Thomas Sciberras attended the DTIP 2022 - Design, Test, Integration and Packaging of MEMS/MOEMS Conference at Pont-a-Mousson in France.
Ing. Thomas Sciberras, who is currently an MPhil student at the University of Malta within the Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, presented a paper titled "Experimental and Numerical Analysis of MEMS Electrothermal Actuators with Cascaded V-shaped Mechanisms".
Dr Ing. Russell Farrugia and Dr Ing. Owen Casha, from the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, presented another paper titled "An out-of-plane FR-4 MEMS Scanning Grating for NIR Spectrometer Applications". The worked presented by Farrugia and Casha was part of the contribution of the UM in ESAIRQ. ESAIRQ is a project within the EUREKA PENTA Cluster, managed by Industry Association AENEAS, aimed at delivering selective, sensitive and reliable sensors at affordable cost for mass markets. This project is co-funded by Malta Enterpise, Malta's economic development agency.
Dr Ing. Casha also chaired one of the sessions held on 12 July 2022 titled "RF Sensing and Measurement Session".
The authors of the work submitted and presented by Ing. Sciberras would like to acknowledge the project: “Setting up of transdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange (TRAKE) complex at the University of Malta (ERDF.01.124)” which is being co-financed through the European Union through the .
