The Department of Insurance and Risk Management together with the European Federation of Insurance Intermediaries (BIPAR) organised the first edition of an International Course on Advanced Insurance Regulation, during which insurance students, practitioners and academics from different universities and entities came together to present and discuss insurance regulatory issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. 
  
  
    
    
		
    The week long program between 18-22 July 2022, was coordinated by Professor Pierpaolo Marano at the forefront together with Professor Simon Grima and administration personnel at the University of Malta Valletta Campus and the Msida Campus. Some of the critical trends discussed included Governance, Transparency, Digital Operations Resilience Act, Parametric Insurance, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Vehicles, Utmost Good Faith, Cell Companies, the Insurance Distribution Directive, Proportionality, IFRS17 and Alternative Risk Transfer. In addition, the students had the opportunity to present their Doctoral and Masters’ thesis, receiving first-hand feedback from the attending experts. 
  
  
      Moreover, An industry wide conference, “Promoting Malta as an Insurance Hub”, organised jointly by Finance Malta and the University of Malta – Department of Insurance and Risk Management  featured as one of the events on the programme. Participants had the opportunity to network and ask questions to industry practitioners who hailed from the financial services sector. 
      
      
  
        The Department of Insurance and Risk Management is currently working on other international conferences scheduled for October 2022 and November 2022 and offering short be-spoke block release courses at level 7 on Advanced Enterprise Risk Management, which is certified by the Federation of European Risk Managers and on Environmental, Social, and Governance Standards (ESG).
