Micro mobility and Public Transport. Professor Maria Attard chairs workshop at the Thredbo 17 International Conference in Sydney, Australia between 4 - 8 September 2022.
Professor Maria Attard, Head of Geography and Director of the Institute for Climate Change & Sustainable Development was invited to chair one of the seven workshops which were organised as part of the Thredbo International Conference Series on Competition and Ownership in Land Passenger Transport. Responsible for the workshop entitled Micromobility movement in urban transport, Prof. Attard lead a group of international experts, operators and policy makers to discuss a number of research questions including:
- What benefits do cities accrue from micro mobility operations?
- What are the main incentives for the use of micro mobility modes of transport?
- What role is there for governments and regulators?
- What are the potential threats, if any, to public transport systems?
- What does the future of micro mobility look like?
Outputs of the conference will be published in the journal Research in Transportation Economics in 2023.
Prof. Attard has also presented her research on Bus Rapid Transit as part of the workshop on Infrastructure, 福利在线免费 and Urban Development.
Following the conference Prof. Attard has been invited to join the International Steering Committee of the Conference Series.
