Dr Foteini Pavli, lecturer at the Department of Food Sciences & Nutrition (Faculty of Health Sciences) and her team “ReSOILution” participated in the first EU TalentOn, an initiative funded by the European Commission in collaboration with Leiden 2022 European City of Science.
Dr Pavli and her team, who competed within the Mission Arena Soil Deal for Europe, were awarded first prize from the audience and also came second, in the Jury’s Award for their innovative idea of developing a biofertilizer to be used in contaminated soils around EU.
At the EU TalentOn competition, the which in turn chose to participate in one of the five key Mission Arenas that address some of the largest and most urgent challenges of our times. The Mission Arenas were Adaptation to climate change, Cancer, Climate-neutral and smart cities, Restore our oceans and waters and Soil Deal for Europe.
The event took place in Leiden, Netherlands from 14 to 18 September this year and was hosted at PLNT Leiden. More information about EU TalentOn is available at .
