, who coordinates postgraduate art courses within the , was invited by SCOTTY Project Space in Berlin to give a talk about his work on Thursday 10 November, 2022.
The title of his talk was Between Engagement and Miracle Cure: Art, Education and Solidarity and Professor Vella discussed how art engages with societal challenges, including threats to democratic thought. He spoke about his journey in the field of art and the interweaving of artistic practice, curating and education. During the talk, he discussed a handful of recent works, curated projects and forms of social engagement, including his recent research forming part of Acting on the Margins: Arts as Social Sculpture.
