On the 28 February 2023, 18 students from San Andrea School visited three Faculties. Physics teacher Paul Borg together with two other teachers and students started their visit at the Faculty of Engineering with Prof. Ing. Cyril Spiteri Staines giving them a tour of various laboratories. The first talk was given by Dr Natasha Padfield from the Centre for Biomedical Cybernetics followed by a visit to the Electrical Power laboratory at the Engineering Faculty.
Following a short break, students then visited the Faculty for the Built Environment where Prof. Ruben Paul Borg talked about civil engineering and construction materials. Sustainability in construction was discussed with students and PhD Ahmed Hamed prepared a typical concrete mix as a demonstration. Students then visited the Faculty of ICT, where Prof. Edward Gatt together with Dr Ing. Russell Farrugia discussed the microelectronics and nanoelectronics aspect of engineering relating to computing. The various career paths were also explained by the UM academics and researchers.
