, a senior lecturer of the within the Faculty of Education, was invited to Nord University in Bodø, Norway, under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching at Higher Education programme.
During her stay in February 2023, Dr Deguara held a number of lectures with Initial Teacher Education undergraduate and Master students about play-based pedagogy in early childhood education in Malta, doing research with young children, and using drawings as a methodological tool for data analysis.
She also contributed to several research meetings held with Associate Prof. Wenche Rønning, Vice Dean of Research at the Faculty of Education and Arts, Associate Prof. Martin Samuelsson who is the Head of Kindergarten Teacher Education, as well as Prof. Elisabeth Bjørnestad together with other members of the Research Group from the same department of Kindergarten Teacher Education.
During one of these meetings, Dr Deguara shared and discussed the research findings of the five reports of the Cov-EM study conducted by the Early Childhood and Primary Education (ECPE) Research Group within the Department of Early Childhood & Primary Education. In turn, she was briefed about a study conducted by Nord University about the pandemic presented by Associate Prof. Kristin Østrem Fløtten and Assistant Prof. Cathrine Bjerknes on behalf of the Research Group within the Department of Kindergarten Teacher Education.
Meetings with other officials from the Faculty of Education and Arts, including Ms Charlotta Langejan, the International Coordinator and Head of Teacher Education in Bodø, Associate Prof. Martin Samuelsson, Head of Kindergarten Teacher Education in Bodø, and Assistant Prof. Anne Grethe Baustad were also held to discuss future collaboration in research as well as possible Erasmus student exchanges between the two faculties of Education.
Dr Deguara also had a meeting with Prof. Ketil Eiane the Prorector for Research and Development to discuss possible further future collaboration between both universities. She also visited a kindergarten setting, an open kindergarten and a school as well as a 4-H farm in Bodø.
