, Director of the has recently visited the University of Aruba, where on 12 May he delivered a keynote speech in the context of the SISSTEM Symposium organized in collaboration with KU Leuven.
Dr Moncada delivered a presentation entitled “Measuring what counts: Multidimensional vulnerability and resilience in small islands”, discussing the preliminary results of a unique composite index. The ISSI has been pioneering this index since the 1990s and there is increasing attention around it in view of the work that the UN is conducting on a new Multidimensional Vulnerability Index. “The ISSI is committed to continue working towards building effective partnerships with academic institutions in the Caribbean region and to carry out teaching and research exchanges among the two small island state Universities, including on vulnerability and resilience topics.”
