Prof. Frank Bezzina, Pro-Rector for International Development and Quality Assurance, participated in the 5th NUSCT Rectors’ Meeting that was hosted by the University of Liechtenstein, in Liechtenstein on 10 May 2023. The meeting brought together rectors and rectors’ delegates from the near totality of Europe’s small countries and territories in a blended format, with on-site and online participation.
Prior to this meeting, this network consisted of 11 Universities: the University of Andorra, the University of Akureyri, the University of Faroe Islands, the University of Gibraltar, the University of Lichtenstein, the Mediterranean University, the University of Montenegro, the University of Nicosia, the University of the Republic of San Marino, and the University of Malta. During this meeting, the proposal of the University of Aland to join the network was unanimously accepted by the members, thereby increasing the number of NUSCT members from 11 to 12 Universities. Furthermore, the Agenda included the approval of the minutes of the 4th NUSCT Rector’s Annual meeting held at the University of Greenland in Nuuk on the 3 of May 2022, a discussion on NUSCT activities and the introduction of students’ representatives’ participation in NUSCT meetings, the renewals of the Constitutional Agreement and the NUSCT Multilateral Exchange Agreements, the ratification of the nomination of Professor Eyjólfur Guðmundsson (Rector, University of Akureyri) as new President, the end-of mandate address by the outgoing President, Professor Miquel Nicolau (Rector, University of Andorra) and the President-elect address. This was followed by a guided city tour of Vaduz and a Gala Dinner at Hofkellerei (Cellars of the Prince of Lichtenstein), courtesy of the University of Lichtenstein.
