Emanuel Buttigieg, associate professor in early modern history (Department of History, Faculty of Arts) recently returned from a research trip to The Malta Study Center (MSC) at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) in Minnesota, USA. He was the beneficiary of a Heckman Stipend provided by HMML to allow him to consult historical material onsite and carry out research. This research trip was fundamental to the current book project that Professor Buttigieg is working on which explores the dynamics of the military and naval activities of the Knights Hospitaller in the seventeenth century.
The visit to the MSC and also provided an opportunity to extend the already strong working relationship with Dr Daniel K. Gullo, the Joseph S. Micallef Director of the MSC, and with Dr Valentina Burgassi of the Politecnico di Torino, who was also visiting the MSC at the same time.
